
Manning Splain hit the front end of a two-shot foul with 0.7 of a second left in a tie game, and Otto-Eldred won the first boys’ District 9 title in school history with a 52-51 win over three-time defending champion and top-seeded Elk County Catholic at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gym.
Lance O’Neill had a season-high 28 points for ECC while Will Wortman added nine and Jack Breindel eight.
Both teams move into the PIAA playoffs.
Otto-Eldred will play Nazareth Prep, the WPIAL third-place finishers, while ECC will play District 10 runner-up Youngsville.
