People are as nervous and hesitant to reach out to an old friend as they are to start talking to a stranger, a new study about old
friendships finds. Even when people say they want to reconnect with old friends, only about one-third actually go on to do so — despite
having the time and contact details. Why don’t they get in touch? People reported that they feared their friend did not want to hear
from them, that it was too awkward after all this time and they felt too guilty for having let the relationships fizzle.
