Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) is hosting an inaugural fundraising event – Denim and Diamonds – on Saturday, March 29 to help raise funds towards student scholarships at the institution. The fundraiser is slated to be held at the Timber Haven Event Center at the Cable Hollow Golf Club, located at 405 Norberg Road in Russell from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and will include dinner, a live auction, silent auction, and a giving tree; with a cocktail hour from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
With more than 10 years of commitment to serving the region, initially under the Education Consortium of the Upper Allegheny, NPRC is the local community’s partner in education. The institution is dedicated to responding to the critical needs of local employers and enhancing the skills of the region’s workforce.
Since its origination, NPRC has provided a unique solution for postsecondary education, and has consistently adapted and grown in response to the ever-changing needs of the region it serves. Welcoming students from high school, adult learners, incumbent workers, and anyone in-between, there are several new options for prospective learners to achieve postsecondary education and provide economic posterity for themselves, families, and the region they call home. NPRC is a second chance, a necessity, and a brighter future for learners residing in the College’s 10-county area and beyond.
NPRC’s student body is the largest it has been in the history of the institution. In the 2024-25 fiscal year, NPRC projects to serve around 1,000 students between academic and workforce development programming. Having been at the forefront of the College’s development, President Susan Snelick shares about this milestone for the institution. “I am incredibly proud of the remarkable growth our College has experienced over the past several years in workforce development, academics, and in our student support services. This current term stands as our absolute best, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our outstanding team. I am excited to see how we will continue to inspire and empower our students for years to come.”
She continued. “I have the extreme fortune of being part of this great institution since its inception as an inaugural trustee on our board. It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be part of making our dream from so many years ago a reality. We have come so far yet I know we have so much work ahead of us. I know we can accomplish anything we set out to do with our fabulous NPRC team. I want nothing more than to see our students pursue their own educational dreams and build a life they deserve. It goes without saying that all our success is shared with our board of trustees and the strong support of our legislators. I’m #NPRCProud each and every day!”
Maintaining affordability for students is a key goal for NPRC. All funds raised at this event will help ensure programming at NPRC remains low cost and that scholarship dollars are used to support prospective students who are looking to change their life and brighten their future through education close to home, and even from the comfort of their home through new flexible online learning options. College President Susan Snelick shared, “I am hopeful that our upcoming Denim and Diamond’s Event will raise ample funds for student scholarships. Through donors' generosity, it will directly provide invaluable support to our students, enabling them to pursue their academic dreams without the burden of financial barriers. As we continue to grow this scholarship fund, including the addition of a new emergency fund for students, I look forward to seeing more students thrive and succeed, with the generosity of our community helping to unlock even more opportunities for future generations.”
The fundraiser is open to the public and tickets are priced at $65.00 each, with ruby, emerald, and diamond sponsorships available to local businesses. NPRC is accepting items from businesses in or near NPRC’s 10-county service region to auction off as a part of the live and silent auctions. The College has already received several items, which include hospitality packages, a stainless-steel fire ring, tickets to local attractions, and other exciting experiences and items. Dinner will be served as well as live music to cap off the evening. The attire for the fundraiser is casual, though denim and bling are encouraged to be worn by all those in attendance. All funds raised from this evening will be returned directly to local students through scholarships and educational tools.
