Leah M. Sain, 81, St. Marys

Leah M. Sain, 81, formerly of Terrace Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025 following a brief illness.


She was born on April 29, 1943 in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of the late Robert and Leah Spuller Dowie.


Her first husband, Robert Campana, preceded her in death on August 27, 1969. On July 5, 1973, she married the late Donald Sain, who preceded her in death on November 12, 2023.


Leah was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1961. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Haskell, a 30 year career which she found fulfilling and enjoying. Always keeping an impeccable home, she could often be found outside, caring for her beautiful flowers and tending to her garden. She also enjoyed sewing. With her warm smile, and her endless grace and beauty, Leah will be remembered for her kind heart and caring nature. She cherished her family and loved nothing more than spending time with them.


She is survived by 7 children; Diane (John) Marzula of Wexford, Douglas (Leanne) Sain of Jefferson Hills, Paula (Joseph) Canterino of Sea Girt, NJ, Deborah Sain of Buffalo, NY, Robert (Martha) Campana of Pittsburgh, Jackie (Walker) Means of Edinboro and Jerry (Dawn) Sain of Cranberry and by 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and her first and second husbands, Leah was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Jennings; a sister, Mary Dowie; and a brother, John Dowie.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Leah M. Sain will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Thomas Curry, OSB, as celebrant.


Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.


Family and friends will be received at the St. Marys Church on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.


Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Penn Highlands Community Nurses.
