
Helen A. Ross, age 97, of Cushing Avenue, Johnsonburg, PA, died March 23, 2025 at Penn Highlands-Elk after a short illness. A daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Zuroski, she was born on September 21, 1927 in Johnsonburg, PA. She was married to Dick A. Ross, who predeceased her in 1996.
Helen is survived by: two children, John (Julie) Ross and Rich (Tracy) Ross, both of Ridgway; ten grandchildren, Jamie, Brian, Jeff, Josh, Jeremy, Kirstie, Kathryn, Leah and Marshall; and ten great-grandchildren, Maverick, Myla, Maddie, Hudson, Penelope, Kinsley, Wyatt, Andy, Jordan and Daniel.
Besides her parents and her husband, Helen was preceded in death by: seven siblings, Slim, Dutch, Waddie, Booney, Nellie, Genevieve and Sophie in her youth.
Helen had worked in the Johnsonburg Paper Mill, the Market Basket Bakery and was especially beloved in Johnsonburg for her many years in the Johnsonburg School District Cafeterias, being well known as one of the “Lunch Ladies”. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards and gatherings with family and friends. She was known for her kind heart and willingness to pray and worry about everyone which gave her purpose and peace in her life. She thanked our Lord for her family and friends and was eternally grateful. Her bond with her family was amazing. Her special bond with Jamie, known to him as "Mama", was one like no other and she guided him as well as all of her family with all of her years of experience of life's ups and downs. She will truly be missed and will be asked for guidance from all that knew her from above.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and also on Thursday, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg, PA.
Mass of Resurrection will be held, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father David Wilson.
Interment will take place in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
