Updated: 4 days ago

Sandra E. Farley, 82, of St. Marys, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois following a very short illness.

She was born on January 10, 1943 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Bernard Heiberger and the late Vera Heliker Heiberger Vollmer.

On January 28, 1961, she married Thomas Farley, who survives. Together they were inseparable for more than 64 years of marriage.

Sandra was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1960 and was a member of St. Marys Church. Over the years, she was employed by Floyd Howell Accounting, Industrial Pipe and Supply, Nicklas Insurance, Sylvania in Emporium and school bus driver. She loved her flowers and planted several pots for the front of the house and eight baskets hanging from the wash poles in the back yard. She took great pride in her garden, planting her vegetables each year and tending to them with great love and care. In August, when the green beans were ready, she would host a large dinner with two large roasters filled with freshly picked green beans and ham. She also loved mowing her lawn during the summer months, where she could often be found in the yard on her riding mower. Sandy loved Christmas, and looked forward to making sure that her special ornaments were displayed perfectly throughout her house each year. Her Christmas tree was special to her as each ornament had a special memory attached. No commercial ornaments for her. She called it her memory tree. She would remember each individual that had given her an ornament and what the occasion was as she placed them on the tree. She loved the Christmas season and spending time with her beloved family and hosting a Christmas Eve party.

In addition to her husband of more than 64 years, she is survived by one daughter; Teva Farley and her companion Gary Sorg of St. Marys; by her beloved grandson; Jesse (Teyana) Farley and her two great-granddaughters whom she adored; Pippin and Lana. She is also survived by two siblings; Bernard Heiberger of St. Marys and Marlene (Walter) Zebker of Grand Island. NY, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her step-father; Leo Vollmer, and by one brother; Edwin Heiberger.
