Allen T. “Butzie” Klaiber, 91, St. Marys

Allen T. “Butzie” Klaiber, 91, of 602 Virginia Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his residence.

He was born May 8, 1933 in St. Marys, son of the late Raymond and Ruth Hannibal Klaiber. Allen was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1951, and retired from Windfall Products in 1995. He was proud of his service to the country. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

On October 26, 1957, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married the late Jane D. Wiesner, who preceded him in death on August 28, 2022.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Linda Kalimon (Ken) of Pittsburgh; seven sons: Jeffrey Klaiber (Deb) of Lyman, SC, Daniel Klaiber (Judith) of Russell City, Timothy Klaiber (Lori) of Mercer, Douglas Klaiber (Hilary) of Sandwich, MA, Peter Klaiber (Lisa) of Claypool, IN, Andrew Klaiber (Kathy) of Trumbull, CT, and Patrick Klaiber (Leah) of Pittsburgh; twenty-two grandchildren: Matt (Susie), Randy (Sharon), Heath (Kelly), Leah (Troy), Hannah, Deidre (Mark), Kyle (Nicole), Dylan, Erica, Ross, Adam, Rachel (Jon), Cayley (Andy), Hannah (Colby), Aidan, Olivia, Owen, Daphne, Gwen, Sarah, Nick, and Ryan; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie, and four brothers: James, Raymond, Donald, and Thomas Klaiber. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Butzie was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and loved his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Jane to visit family and always looked forward to visits from his grandchildren at their home. He especially enjoyed playing cards with friends, a weekly highlight of strategy and good-natured fun. Whether he won or (rarely) lost, he kept the table engaged and the games lively. He looked forward to going to camp with his family and was always willing to educate his sons and grandchildren on how cinch was to be played. His never-ending smile will be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
